Inlays/Onlays

When more than half of the tooth’s surface is damaged, Dr. Fabozzi may suggest an inlay or onlay. Our patients depend on us for appealing and comfortable dental solutions, and we are ready to provide them! Inlays and onlays are great ways to repair decayed or damaged teeth.

WHAT ARE INLAYS AND ONLAYS?

Our inlays and onlays are pieces of porcelain, gold, or composite resin that are placed over a damaged tooth surface. These restorations are permanently bonded so that you don’t have to worry about damaging your smile further.

If you want your inlay or onlay to blend perfectly with the rest of your smile, porcelain may be your material of choice. Our porcelain restorations have the same light-reflecting properties as natural teeth. No one will know the difference between your real teeth and your inlay or onlay!

HOW ARE INLAYS AND ONLAYS DIFFERENT?

Inlays and onlays require a similar procedure and materials, but they are slightly different. An inlay is similar to a filling and is used inside the cusp tips only. An onlay is more extensive and can overlap and proceed past the cusps of the tooth.

Not only can our restorations improve your aesthetic, but they can also provide strength to your smile! Inlays and onlays can increase the strength of the tooth up to 75 percent! If you are in need of dental work, call us at Fabozzi Dental today.

WHAT IS THE INLAY OR ONLAY PROCEDURE?

Inlays and onlays can drastically improve your health in only two appointments! At your first visit, your dentist will remove the damage, decay, or old dental work. He or she will prepare the tooth for the restoration and take impressions to send to the lab. They may also provide you with a temporary sealant to protect the tooth.

During your second appointment, Dr. Fabozzi will remove the temporary restoration and check the fit of your new inlay and onlay. If you are pleased with the fit and feel of the restoration, your dentist will bond your permanent inlay or onlay to the tooth.
